Olympia Sensei. Absent: Craig Johnson President Gellner Sensei called the meeting to order at about 6:55 a.m. at the YMCA. Minutes: The minutes were approved unanimously as read. There was discussion about the minutes in general. The minutes need to be shown as approved minutes and perhaps should be posted on the bulletin board in the dojo. Treasurer’s Report: Peter Price Sensei provided the treasurer’s report. It was approved unanimously. Chief Instructor’s Report: Dan Pederson Sensei gave an update about the Kagami Biraki seminar planning. Cathy Brennan reported she is coordinating the restaurant meals and other related activitites. It was discussed that post seminar meeting would be a good idea. Other business: n Dan Browning Sensei brought up the possibility of having an ethics policy that would include a training program as a way of covering liability against possible future ethics complaints. The consensus was that a training program would be too cumbersome for AOM. n There was discussion about the annual meeting. A survey of the members should occur. The board’s long range planning that was done last yearr should be on the agenda. n There was discussion about the Aikido information packet being revised at some point. It was delayed until the next meeting when it can be an agenda item. n There was discussion about the AOM policies being available at the dojo. This will also be an agenda item for the next meeting. The meeting was adjourned at about 7:50 a.m. The next meeting of AOM is scheduled for March 1, 2006 at 6:45 a.m. at the YMCA. These minutes were approved at the March 1, 2006 AOM Board Meeting.

Hanbo/Cane/Jodo clinic Sensei Tom Lang, a yodan in Danzan Ryu and a nidan in two styles of iaido, is teaching hanbo/cane techniques for martial artists at Dan Browning's dojo on Saturday, June 4. Sensei Lang, of Davis, Calif., has agreed to teach a class on Shindo Muso Ryu jodo and aiki jo during our regular Sunday class, June 5. Unlike the hanbo clinic, this class is just for AoM members. Please click on the "jo clinic" link at the top of the page for a syllabus. Note: If you do not go to the hanbo clinic, a donation of $8 is requested for the jo class, though it is not required. If do you attend the hanbo clinic, no additional gratuity is requested.
