AoM 2011 Annual Meeting

Dear AoM Members,

This is a reminder that our annual meeting will be held this Saturday, April 2. The time and meeting place have CHANGED to 2:00 PM at John's Pizza Cafe, Ltd. (616 Como Ave, St. Paul, MN 55103).

The board will provide pizza for the meeting. In order to pre-order the pizza, we need to have a good estimate of attendees. We know the number of members who plan to attend, but if you plan to bring other non-members with you, please contact Mary Sensei at 651-341-0903 with the information.

If you cannot attend the meeting, please submit a proxy vote in writing prior to the meeting to Thierry Ajas, AoM Secretary. Proxy votes are important because they are counted as part of the quorum. Proxy forms can be found at the dojo and are also attached.

We are looking forward to a fun and productive meeting! See you Saturday!

2011 Polar Bear Plunge pictures & video

The Aikido of Minnesota Polar Bear Plunge Team demonstrated the purifying powers of misogi on a brisk Saturday, March 5 morning at 11:20 am at the south end of Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis. We did this for the greater good, in this case the Special Olympics, holding true to the principles that guided us in founding AoM.

The 2011 AoM Polar Bear Plunge Team consisted of:

• Thierry “The Frozen Frenchman” Ajas
• Chris “The Iceman” Carlson
• Brrrrrandon Due

Our initial goal was to raise $1550 and our team ended up raising close to $2,000 total. Thanks to all for your generosity and we look forward to putting together an even stronger, more dedicated team of plungers next year!
